5:17 pm - Anime!

More than a month, what a lazy mod I am. I shall punish myself by withholding chocolate.

Anywho, yes, I did create this community for a reason! Discussion of Asian culture and a shared love of George. XD

So here's my next question for you all, and if you didn't answer the last one I want you to try this one, because the point of having members is to talk with each other. X3 Anime. Like it? Love it? Hate it? Think it does a lot to reinforce the misogynistic cultures of many Asian countries? We can be as intellectual (or not) as we want with this, so give me your thoughts on the interesting phenomenon that is anime.

And yes, if you want to be incredibly nit-picky, I'm including manga and (specifically Asian) video games in there as well. Also if any of you have seen anime from countries other than Japan, feel free to include that too.

If you hate anime, feel free to express why you hold such deep hatred for the genre. Hell, some of us might agree with you. XD

6:22 pm - Subject: Introductions.

Hi, Origamians! This is your friendly moderator, and I have a question for you.

When do you think you were first introduced to Asian culture, and how did that first experience affect you? Eating Chinese take-out when you were three and a half doesn't count, I mean real Asian cultural things. Like, did you have a class in elementary school where you spent a day learning about holidays in other cultures? Did you get taught some simple origami as a child? Were you only vaguely aware that there were some weird landmasses on the other side of the world until your introduction to anime in tenth grade? Spill! I want to know all about why you like (or dislike?) Asian culture, and how that first experience shaped your view of it.

10:35 pm - Hello!

This is the first post at the Origami Army HQ! For those who don't know what the Origami Army is, it first came from my friend George. George is awesome. George is one of my favorite people in the whole world. And if you joined the Origami Army, then you may also love George. If you don't love George, you're still allowed to join, because the Origami Army isn't just for people who love George.

The Origami Army is for people who like origami or any other aspect of Asian culture. This includes but is not limited to: food, animation, politics, vacation, art, craft, people, heritage and culture. If you're interested in any of these things pertaining to any Asian culture, feel free to join! You're also welcome to teach people how to do origami or share patterns for making origami, if you'd like to keep it that specific. Or just talk about your favorite George stories and why George is so awesome. XD

A little bit about me: My name is Chelsea, I'm a junior in college, a voice performance major, and I love George. XD I took three years of Japanese in high school and used to be an avid anime fan. I still enjoy anime, but my major doesn't leave room for a whole lot of side activities, so I've unfortunately been unable to enjoy it as much as I used to. There's a lot more about me, but if you really need to know, you can either friend me or ask me about it.
